About Pangborn Memorial Airport

Located in the Wenatchee Valley, North Central Washington the airport has two asphalt runways servicing over 100 planes every day. With Horizon Air operating daily commuter service to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport this provides the airport with good transport links to other national and international flights. With shuttle buses running to the 4 nearest hotels there is a wide variety of places to stay if you have an early or late flight or just take a seat and relax at the Cafe Pangborn. Founded in 1941, the Pangborn Memorial Airport is jointly owned by the Port of Chelan County and the Port of Douglas County and last year appointed Gregory Phillips AAE to Director Pangborn Memorial Airport. Together since 1974 they have been improving on the services available at the Pangborn Memorial Airport including a new instrument landing system that became operational in 2006. Even so, due to the topography and location down in the valley sometimes it still gets too foggy for the pilots to land. Pangborn Memorial Airport takes its name from Clyde Pangborn, one of the pilots who completed the first non-stop flight across the Pacific Ocean way back in 1931. This flight lasted for 41 hours taking off from Misawa, Japan and eventually landing in Wenatchee where the airport is located today. The airport has become an important and integral part of the local community supporting hundreds of jobs and is estimated by the Washington Department of Transport to contribute $47,000,000 to local community every year.
