Meadow Field Airport (BFL) is a small airport located in Bakersfield, Southern California. It was established in 1920 and still operates today .The airport is owned by Kern County and provides flights to seven hundred thousand people in the surrounding area. There are two runways for planes, allowing for more incoming and out going flights and four gates numbered three, four, seven and nine. . Meadow Field provides domestic flights as well as international ones. Their available airlines are Allegiant Air, United Express, and US Airways Express. Meadow Filed encourages passengers to arrive seventy-five minutes before scheduled departure. While waiting, passengers can enjoy the wireless internet access or catch a bite at Blimpie located in William M. Thomas Termina. Meadow Field has available parking. Short Term parking (zero to thirty minutes) is free while hour-long parking is two dollars. A full day’s parking is eleven dollars while long-term parking—if one were to leave their car at the airport while on their trip—is nine dollars. There is also the option of renting a car. There is Avis, Hertz, National as well as Budget Car rentals. The rental booths are located inside the airport. Cabs are also available to call for transportation. Meadow Field plans on expanding and constructing new buildings in the future. There is also a plan to add a third runway. They will also be adding in another parking lot, allowing for more people to come to the airport. At Meadow Field, growth is expected in the next few years.
