About King County International Airport (Boeing Field)
The King County International Airport, or Boeing Field, is located in Seattle, Washington. Even though the current owner is King County, the airport still serves Seattle. It is named after the founder of the famous Boeing Company, William E. Boeing. It houses many airlines, including Seaport Airlines and Kenmore Air. They receive cargo from airlines such as: Airpac Airlines, Ameriflight, DB Schenker, and UPS Airlines. The airport takes up about 550 acres of land and has two runways. It performs more than 375,000 operations yearly. King County International Airport has played its role in World War Two, and carried out missions such as Project Wedgetail aircraft and Peace Eagle. The city of Seattle is seated on a series of rolling hills, on lowland situated on Puget’s Sound’s eastern shore. It has the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east. The climate in Seattle is mild and slightly moist, due to the western air currents projected from the ocean. Seattle has unusually warm winters and cool summers. Extreme temperatures are rare and fluctuation between weather is very slight. Seattle is known for its rainy weather, though ironically, its percentage of rainfall is less than most other major cities in the United States of America.
