About George Bush Intercontinental Airport

The George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) serves more than 40 million passengers annually. It is the main base for Continental Airlines. It is a modern airport serving local, continental, and international traffic. IAH has been in operation for about 40 years. Houston Intercontinental Airport, as it was known when it first opened its doors, was opened in June of 1969 by a group of Houston businessmen. It has grown dramatically over the years. Recent construction has made this Houston airport bigger and better. It is now connected by a inter-terminal railway system. However, beware of frost in the winter time, they are not prepared, and you may end up waiting a long time to be bussed between terminals. All terminals are equipped with WIFI access. It is located within Houston’s city limits, a little more than 20 miles north of downtown. The surrounding landscape is mostly flat land. The area in general is occasionally affected by tornados and hurricanes, but these are usually not a major problem for the airport itself. Continental Airlines makes its home at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and therefore, has a domestic terminal, and an international terminal all to its own. The airport houses 5 terminals for passenger flights. Terminal A is mostly Air Canada and US Airways, Terminal C includes United Airlines. Terminal B takes the other domestic flights. Terminal D & E are the international terminals, while D is only Continental, and E is all other international flights.
