Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (Sardy Field) is located in Aspen, Colorado. The mission statement for the airport is “To Provide safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible airport services and facilities that meet or exceed our community’s expectations”. Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (Sardy Field) is county-owned and is for public use. The airport typically hosts general aviation flights, however air taxis, commercial flights, and military flights also take off from the airport. Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (Sardy Field) has only a few destinations. Frontier Airlines will travel from Aspen to Denver. United Express airlines will travel from Aspen to Denver, however on a season basis will also travel to Chicago-O’Hare, Houston-Intercontinental, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. One of the best new parts of the airport is the new runway that was just renovated in 2007. The new runway consists of new grooved asphalt. The terminal of the airport is about 44,000 square feet and is a single floor facility. There are six rental car operations located at the airport, guest service operations, restaurants, and a gift shop. There are several projects currently going on a the airport, including additional studies to determine if the airport facilities or the runway should be expanded at the airport. One unusual note about the airport is that the airport has an operating curfew, that is, no aircrafts are allowed to land between 2300 and 0700 local time. No aircraft departures are allowed after 2230 local time. This could be due to the non-standard runway/taxiway separation located at the airport, which limits aircraft wingspan. There is also an operations center on site where operations and facilities maintenance is housed on site.
