About St. George Municipal Airport

St. George Municipal Airport is a public airport located in in St. George Utah. This airport was created to serve southern Utah and it was built after a smaller airport serving the area was declared unsuitable due to the expansion of the city. St. George Municipal Airport is owned and operated by the City of St.George. There is one runway located at this airport and it is capable of accommodating both regional jets and mainline craft and it is oriented at approximately 010/190 degrees. The runway will start at approximately 9,300 by 150 feet but will later be extended to 11,500 feet. This new airport will also include an air traffic control tower and a precision instrument approach; these are two things that the previous airport did not have. The airport is approximately 1,203 acres and airlines that use St. George Municipal Airport include Delta, Sky West, and United Express. The main destinations of the flights flying out of St. George Municipal Airport include Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. A few cities that are near St. George Airport include Washington Utah, Las Vegas NV, and Bullhead City AZ. This airport was partially funded by grants from FAA totaling approximately $123 million; construction began on the airport in October 2008. St. George also includes a 35,000 square foot terminal on its grounds. The airport has begun jet service to Salt Lake City as of January 13, 2011. The weather at St. George follows the typical seasons, in the winter you can expect cooler weather, during the spring it becomes very pretty with temperatures ranging from the mid-30′s to the upper-70′s and of course in the summer it can get HOT!!! About St. George Municipal Airport

St. George Municipal Airport is a small local airport that services the city of St. George, Utah. The city of St. George is close to Las Vegas (119 miles) and Salt Lake City (303 miles), and is known for the geology of the city: lava rock peaks in the city and red bluffs to the north. Also near to the city of St. George is the Zion National Park (approximately 45 minutes). Zion National Park was rated the number one national park by Trip advisor and offers such activities as walking trails, biking, hiking, and beautiful scenery perfect for photography. There are many activities to try in the city of St. George as well. The area features an extensive array of dining options, as well as shopping, art galleries and outdoor activities such as hiking, golf, and horseback riding, off-road touring and skydiving. The airlines that service this airport are Delta Connection and United Express. The rental car companies Avis, Budget, Enterprise and Hertz also service the St. George Municipal Airport. The St. George Municipal Airport is currently undergoing expansions and negotiations have begun to start this process, and a new manager, Rich Stehmeier who plans on emphasizing public relations as a way to expand and improve the current airport. In the past (ending June 30, 2011) there was no fee for long term parking, however beginning in July of 2011 parking rates of $4.00/day will apply, although the first hour of parking will be free.
