About Dallas Love Field

The Dallas Love Field is located in Dallas, Texas. The airport is created for public usage and is northwest of the central business region of Dallas, Texas. Dallas Love Field acted as the major and sole airport for the city of Dallas until the year of 1974, when the airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, opened not too far from the Love Field airport itself. Dallas Love Field is now reduced to Dallas’s second most major airfield, though remains still a major port for the Southwest Airlines. Continental Express, Colgan Air, Pinnacle Airlines, ExpressJet Airlines, and Delta Connection are also airlines serving Dallas Love Field. The airport covers 1,300 acres and holds three runways. Dallas Love Field runs an average of 677 air operations per day. They hold twenty gates and two terminals. Dallas Love Field was first opened and operated as an army flying unit on October 19, 1917. It was built just southeast of Bachman Lake, Texas. It was named and dedicated after the First Lieutenant Moss Lee Love. He had died when his airplane crashed near San Diego, California. Love Field was opened to public usage in the early 1927s, when the mayor of Dallas purchased the airport. The runways of the airport were completed on April 9th, 1932. The city of Dallas itself, housing Dallas Love Field, sits on flat, hard soil, near the counties of Collin, Denton, Kaufman, and Rockwall. Its climate is humid subtropical, as the whole of Texas gets little rainfall each year. Snow is unusual during the winter, thought it does occur, bringing about 2.5 inches. Autumn and Spring are warm and beautiful. * What airlines land at the airport. * What cities the airport is near * any famous incidents that have occured at the airport * any unique weather or geography around the airport * who ownes the airport * Who run the airport * How many runways the airport has, and what direction they are facing * When the airport was built, and any additions or other construction.
